Crime Alert - Armed Robbery

The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) is investigating an attempted armed robbery reported at approximately 11:00 p.m. at the intersection of 5th St. and Gresham Pl., NW.

A lookout has been established for three Black males all wearing dark clothing and black ski masks. They reportedly approached the scene in a black coupe and exited the vehicle with one suspect brandishing a handgun at two complainants. They chased the complainants on foot before returning to their car and driving southbound on 4th St. 

Preliminary details of the investigation suggest that the complainants and suspected individuals are not affiliated with Howard University.

  • Avoid isolated and dark areas.     
  • Carry your mobile phone and keep it accessible.  
  • Do not use doors marked as fire exits, prop, or obstruct them for unauthorized access.     
  • If you are approached, take note of the person’s appearance, clothing, and anything that will help to identify the subject.     
  • Immediately report any suspicious activity or suspicious individuals to the Howard University Police Department at 202-806-1100. Program this number into your mobile phone for quick access.
