Special Operations

The Howard University Department of Public Safety’s Special Operations Department (S.O.D.) is an essential part of HUDPS’s overall operations. The Special Operations Unit works in conjunction with all events, operations, or tasks that involve the public safety and security.  S.O.D. is a member of the Events Task Force headed by Mr. Andrew Rivers, Director of Development Office.  S.O.D. works in coordination with the Clery Officer regarding accreditation and departmental General Orders. S.O.D. established public service events such as “Warm Up DC”, an event that provided coats, gloves, hats, and socks to the needy in the District of Columbia, and “Hydrate the Community”, an event focused on providing cold bottled water to citizens during hot summer days.
